Walking into the ultrasound room for my booked abdominal ultrasound, the tech guy told me to empty my bladder. I pointed to the Wandmonkey "But, I'm not getting .... that. I'm getting a tummy one?" He read the notes, looked confused, animated talking to the nurses. I stood there having drunk a litre of water, waiting. My clinic is like a production line - get em in, get em out, whatever you do, don't read their fucking files.
*sigh*
Bottom line - good! I am the proud owner of a bouncing left ovary! (He's just very shy)
14 follicles! Trigger tomorrow! Retrieval Thursday morning! Transfer on Saturday!
I'm so sorry for the whine, but I feel SHIT. I think the novelty has worn off now. This has truly been a hard slog - and every. Single. Nurse. Asks me is this my first IVF. Which leads me to believe that most people do this a few times. I'm not doing this a few times. This is it.
*sigh*
I knew I needed to tell people IRL about what I was up to ... welcome Tee and Rex, to your sister Topcats blog. I love you guys, and thanks so much for your support already.
I have taken the pill and snorted Synarel and SHOT UP for fucks sake. I have kept my arms and legs inside the carriage, gone around and up and down. Now I just need to get off. I can't wait to just get off.
*sigh*

shotting up and n ot geting the desired effects are what my husband and i had a discussion about over the weekend. Here's to hoping for the desired effects of shooting up for IVF!! Hang in there topcat
Great work! The novelty wore off pretty quickly for me too, lol. But now you are on the home stretch, go Topcat! Good luck with your trigger and EPU!
Yes, it only takes a few days of reading infertility blogs to figure out how many times some people go through this process. Luckily for you, you're dealing with MFI, which doesn't mean everything will work out perfectly, but that's what I attribute our success the first time around w/ IVF to.
Good luck with everything!! I'm reading ever post!
IVF DOES work the first time around - I just think that those women are not the ones doing a lot of active blogging! Just like there are success stories for first time IUIs and *gasp* natural cycles.
Like you said earlier - the middle of this ride was ok, but now that you are coming to the end - there is bound to be some anxiety about how it will end. Chin up, Topcat! We are all here for you!
Topcat... what did I tell you about one ovary- they can surprise you!
So glad that everything is coming along. As for women going through this a few times... A few days before my retrival, I was at the clinic getting my blood work done, when a woman came in with her child and started crying in front of everyone- she made a scene about how the transfer she had done two weeks prior didnt work. I freaked out since this was not something I wanted to hear, and the nurses took her aside to calm her down. As I was getting a sono done later, the nurse said that the woman should not have done that in front of all the women waiting...I think what everyone needs is hope. It's disheartning to see that, but it's reality. I am so praying that everything goes well for you!
Just sending some good happy vibes to you today! Yay for lefty!
Fourteen follies is terrific! Sending lots of positive thoughts your way!
Hey, you're nearly there. How exciting.
I agree, if you try then there won't be regrets. That's what I tell myself too. It helps to make things easier.
I'll be thinking about you over this next week xx
GOod luck the rest of this week. I'll be thinking of you.
Don't forget honey that you may get embryos to freeze. (bonus!) The best part of a Frozen Embryo Transfer is that it's MUCH easier than a fresh cycle. (Well physically anyway).
Of course, you won't be needing an FET because you are surely going to get PREGNANT straight up. It happens toots. It can happen to you too. You are at the hardest part now.....so it is not surprising that the novelty has worn off. Grit your teeth babe. And GO FOR IT.
I'm glad you found that other ovary. Best of luck with the trigger and retrieval.
I'm so happy that lefty was found! And wow- 14!! Kick ass! And I hope that your DH starts coming around soon. My husband is fine either way regarding children (none or some...doesn't matter to him), but I think when we got the ER date, it actually became reality for him and he began to get excited. So I'm glad that your husband is willing to try IVF at least and hopefully he'll start getting excited soon :)
Soon, soon my dear, you'll be getting off this bumpy ride. You're doing a fantastic job. This last haul definitely had me more on the crabby, antsy side. Once the retrieval gets going, the transfer comes quickly, and then...well, then you just wait which is what we've all figured out how to be pretty good at by now! Good luck...thinkin of you!
Two more sleeps!
What a great chook you are. Now you get to go nigh nighs while they retrieve a stack of those fabulous plump eggs, while poor Mr TC has his turn.
You'll get heaps of lovely fat embryos. Transfer is a sinch, then the waiting starts.....
IVF is effing hard. I truly hope you only have to do it this once.
Good Luck
Hi mate, god love ya, thru all this trial and tribulation that is IVF you've still managed to make me laugh out loud at every blog you write. Thanks for the visual of Mr TC's ballbag. You are truly incredible and I feel very priviledged to call you my friend (and my sister) xoxoxox Tee xoxoxo
I'm glad that they found your missing left ovary.
It will all be over soon, and you're right, it feels much better to have tried (whatever happens) than not doing it. Saves the 'what-ifs' and 'if only's' later on.
Good luck,
Checking in on my hols to see how you are doing.
And I see you are doing well.........
Keep positive and cross each bridge as you get to it.
One at a time.
One at a time.
Thinking of you.
Von.
